• Question: You awake inside a small transparent capsule sitting on the surface of Venus. From a small speaker you hear a voice that says, "We will leave you here either for a day or a year. If you choose to stay a day, we will give you $1 million. If you choose to stay a year, we will give you $2 million. Either way, you will have sufficient food and water. We will make sure the temperature is a constant 70 degrees Fahrenheit. We will also supply cable TV." What is your choice?

The length of a day on venus is 243 earth days whereas it goes around the sun once every 224 days. Id chose to stay a year as it is quicker and you get more monies

If Ollie’s numbers are right then I’d ask them if they meant Earth or Venus days and years – that’s a big difference!

If they meant a day or a year in Earth time I’d only stay for a day – £1million is still more money than I can imagine spending, and I don’t think doubling the money for 365 times longer is a very good deal!

I’m not sure I’d be quite so placid and accepting of the situation. I’d want to know who was holding me there against my will, and why they were doing it. What is the purpose behind this “test”? Who’s funding it? How do I know you’re telling me the truth about Venus? Before I agree to anything, I’d want to talk to my family, let them know I was OK.

Then I’d jump back into the train and stop the bomb going off. 8)

I think i would stay a year, providing Ollie’s facts are correct 🙂 i might ask if i could have some company too! think i would ask for the money in £s too as the exchange rate is usually better!!!
