Good question…. I like that you are always discovering something new and that you get to do things that no one has ever done before. I also get to use things like liquid nitrogen and really dangerous poisons which is cool. We alos get to go to conferences all over the world (some of which are really dull) but they normally have them at ski resorts…. and work pays for the whole thing!

I enjoy looking at peoples brain cells and working out how they work. I like that my research can one day contribute to a cure for these diseases. Plus it is cool using dangerous chemicals, and lasers!!

the travelling is pretty sweet too, i have been to australia and New York on the work credit card! 😉

Hi folks. I’ve always been curious about the world, always wanted to know more about how it works. Science lets me do that. It’s great to have a job where you can help contribute to the world’s knowledge, even if it’s just a little bit.

But beyond day to day work, I like science as a view on the world. It’s the best way I’ve found to try and make sense of things, even if it doesn’t always work. At first. But it will, eventually.

I enjoy working on science every day because its never boring – I get to do different experiments and learn new things every day! It’s great to be able to discover things that no-one has ever known before, especially as any new discoveries in my work could help to develop cures for diseases that affect people all over the world 🙂

It’s really good to be able to travel to conferences too – I’m of to Italy in a few months time, paid for by work! The talks are usually arranged so that you have afternoons and nights to yourself, so you get to listen to interesting work AND have a bit of a holiday 🙂

I like that science is so flexible too – even though there’s sometimes a lot of work to do, iit doesn’t really matter when you do it as long as it gets done. So, to an extent, you can arrange work around anything else you want to do!
