Hello luvponies1404: an appendix is either a ‘blind-ended tube’ connected to the beginning of the large intestine (the caecum) or it’s an ‘addition’ to the end of document, usually containing extra information or a bibliography/set of references…
The appendix in our body is a little cul-de-sac like tube attached to the large intestine. It doesn’t really have any purpose any more, but there are some theories that it used to when our ancestors ate leavesMATOMO_URL
We can’t naturally digest the cellulose in plant tissue like leaves, but some bacteria can. Some people think that some of these bacteria used to live in the appendix to help us get some of the goodness out of plants, so that we could absorb it through our intestines.

* it also means any addition to a document at the foot of a page. 🙂

…isn’t that a footnote? 🙂
Andy commented on :
It’s an endnote. :p
Alex commented on :
…if the *note appears on the very same page, then its a footnote; if the *note appears at the end of the document its an endnote 🙂
