• Question: What do you think is a more important aspect of science. A philosophical ideal of reasoning and logic. Or as a vocational function of the benefits it offers?

Hi danieljwatson. That’s an intriguing question. I would say the former is more important. I see science as a way of looking at the world, a set of tools we can use to find out how things work, and that includes philosophical approaches as well as more practical tools.

The benefits that can be made from applying the discoveries made by science are important for society in general, but they would be impossible without the logical and systematic approach used to discover them.

I hope that makes some kind of sense. Feel free to leave a comment below if not.
