You age at a slower rate in space. This is because you are moving at around 22,000mph. Einsteins law of realtivity means that the fast you go, the slower time seems to pass, so if you could go faster than the speed of light, time would essentially standstill. However, although 22,000mph is ridiculously quick by our standards, it is still 30,000 times slower than the speed of light. This means that if you spent a year on the international space station, you would probably be only a few seconds younger than you would be if you stayed on earth.

When I was young (waaaay back in the last millenium) there was a movie called “Flight of the Navigator”. A young boy was taken away in an alien spacecraft, went for a bit of a ride at close to or above the speed of light, came back to earth and all his family had grown up and wondered where he’d been for the last however-many years.

At the time, I thought it was time travel. I was eight years old. Eight year-olds know all about time travel. Turns out it was relativity. Eight year olds don’t know so much about relativity. At least I didn’t when I was that age…
