      If we work out how to stop “bad” mitochondrial DNA from making proteins, then this could also help combat ageing. As you get older you get mutations naturally in your DNA, so we could use our drugs to stop these mutations having an effect and damging the cell.

      Its also thought that mutations in mitochondrial DNA can also cause other things like Parkinsons and Alzheimers Disease. So we might be able to treat these things as well. Fingers crossed!!
