It depends on the experiments i am running. If i am growing cells then they need looking after everyday (even at weekends :(). But i usually work 8-5 ish but sometimes later if i have a lot to do that day. It is pretty flexible to be honest and our boss lets us decide when to come in and go home……as long as everything gets done he is happy!!
🙂
Like Amy, the hours of work I do vary quite a lot! If I’m not very busy, I work 9 – 5 on weekdays, so I have a lot of free time! 🙂 But if I have a lot to do, I sometimes come into work as early as 6:30! I usually have to leave work somewhere between 5 and 6 to get to my triathlon club, but I sometimes come back to work after training if I’m very busy. The worst is having to come in on weekends sometimes, but I try not to do this very often – its important to make sure you have plenty of time to relax as well as working hard!
I normally work from about 8 to 5. But sometimes I need to stay later if im really busy. This week Ive been coming in late and leaving early, partly because I dont have much on, partly because my boss is away.
Hi there. I’m normally in the lab 9:30ish, and leave between 6:30ish, so about 9 hours a day on average.
Or perhaps that should be “at least” 9 hours a day. If I’ve got an analysis running or paper I want to get finished, I may stay longer. But usually I’ll go home and log-on to the uni’s computer from there. It’s good to get a bit of a break, and my work’s a lot easier to take home than someone who works with cells or chemicals. 🙂
