  Your brain needs a lot of oxygen and nutrients. Once your heart has stopped beating your brain will be come starved of oxygen and will begin to get damaged. If your heart is restarted then depending on how long your brain has been starved of oxygen there may be no damage. if your heart is not restarted then your brain will die a few minutes later.
