• Question: how long ago was it that a scientist discovered a new element

      Hi

      5 new elements have been added to the periodic table since 2000, some of them were only discovered a couple of years ago 🙂 they have insane names though!!

      You could argue that the most recent elements added to the periodic table were “created” rather than “discovered”. They’re too unstable to exist in nature, and are only seen for fractions of a second in nuclear reactions.

      The last element to be “discovered” in this sense was Francium in 1939.
