  There are loads of ways to do it. When im doing my experiments I take away their food then spin them in a centrifuge. This makes them all go into a ball in the bottom of the tube. I then add some chemicals that makes the cells split open so i can take away their proteins. the cells a pretty dead after this 🙂
  
  In our lab we use chemicals that destroy DNA to kill cells as well.
