      Hello 🙂

There are 3 types of Parkinson’s disease..

the first is the most common and affects elderly people. We are not sure what causes these people to get this disease, this is what i am researching. We have a few ideas about what is going wrong, but we don’t know why these things start going wrong in the first place. We also don’t know why it affects some elderly people but not all of them 🙁

The second is caused by mutations in genes. Some of these genes have a role to play in making mitochondria work. This form of parkinson’s disease can be passed on to peoples children and will affect people when they are much younger. If you want to read more about some of these genes they are called pink1, parkin, DJ-1. this website is quite good 🙂 http://ghr.nlm.nih.gov/condition/parkinson-disease

the third kind is called pugilistic parkinsonism. This type affects mohammed ali and was caused by too many concussions when he was boxing.

The thing all these forms have in common is the death of neurons within the brain. If you would like to know anything else…ask away 🙂
