There wasnt much difference between the courses at the unis I looked at (Newcastle, leeds and Sheffield) so I just went for Newcastle because my mate went there, and it was a class night out when I went to visit him.

I went up for the open day and thought that Edinburgh was an amazing city. Although you are there to study, and your course is important, it helps if you live somewhere that is awesome!!

This was where the PhD was, but I really wanted to study here too… Newcastle has an excellent reputation as a research university and I love the Geordie accent too! 🙂

      Hi @becky3456

When I was studying A-levels, I knew I wanted to go on to study biochemistry at Uni, I just wasn’t sure which one. I made a short list of places that looked like nice places to live, and had the sorts of course that I wanted to study. I hadn’t ever thought about applying to Oxford until my A-level Biology teacher suggested it. I didn’t think I was smart enough, but I managed to get in and really enjoyed my time there.
