Brain tumours can reach any part of the brain. They can start right in the middle of the brain and may be undetected for a long time. Or they might grow closer to the surface of the brain. Your brain is very delicate and so trying to remove these tumours is much less dangerous if they are not buried deep within the brain.
Brain cells can die for many many reasons and the time it takes for them to die can vary a lot. if someone has a stroke (this means that a part of the brain doesn’t get enough blood or oxygen) then cells die very quickly. In Parkinson’s disease people don’t get problems until they are 50-60 years old so cells have died much more slowly.
