• Question: have any of you dicovered a new organism

      No, not me… I’m working with data from two large studies; one of these has been ‘following’ people since they were born in 1946! Data is collected from them on all sorts of things during their lifetime, and scientists use this data to try to find out what causes diseases and ill-health in older age…

      I haven’t … but all the samples I work with are from people, so it might be a bit scary to find something new living in human cells!

      I haven’t discovered one. Like Georgia it would be pretty hard for me to since i work with Human tissue…but it would be so cool to discover one!

      I haven’t Rosie. I work with human DNA sequences. The best I can hope for is a new gene.

      What’s more likely is that I’ll find a new function for an old gene.

      I havent.. although you can! If you go into any open space (even your backgarden) the chances are that you will see something that has never been described in science!
