I hope so! I hope that my work will contribute towrds finding cures for all sorts of aging diseases – like mitochondrial disease, Alzheimers and Parkinsons – which affect lots of people all over the world. It would be great if my research could help so many people live longer and more healthily 🙂

Hello Emma. One of the things that motivates me, and most scientists I would imagine, is the idea that our work will be useful. In medical research, the most useful way to apply our research is to aid people’s health.

I’m looking for genes that affect how people think, and why some people lose the ability to think clearly as they get older. If we can find out what genes go wrong, that will give us clues to help develop treatments, and hopefully, we’ll be able to help people keep their thinking ability well into old age.
